Board President Spotlight

Jessica Aminoff

Big Sister League of San Diego is featuring its new President and discussing what drew her to BSL and what she hopes to accomplish.

Jessica moved to San Diego from her home state of Florida and attended the University of San Diego School of Law. After many years specializing as a parole revocation attorney, Jessica saw time and time again how a stable, safe residence can keep individuals from entering or reentering the system, which benefits society as a whole. Jessica enjoys yoga, traveling, reading, paddle boarding, and just wishes there were more hours in a day! Here's Jessica...

What drew you to BSL or the issue of supportive housing?

I have been helped by women along my path and want to pay it forward and help other women. My legal experience also gave me an awareness of the great need for supportive local housing.

What are you most looking forward to accomplishing or working on as board president?

I hope to work on community awareness of the Big Sister League. It is such a wonderful resource for women in need, and the more people who know about it, the more women we can help provide safe, supportive housing.

What’s one of your most satisfying resident or BSL memories?

Over the holidays, it was wonderful how the entire BSL Board came together with donations and creativity to make the very difficult COVID holidays special for the BSL residents and staff. The expression on the residents' faces was the best!

Anything else you’d like to share?

If anyone has ideas or ways to help to make BSL even better for the women we support, please get in touch with me (, our Executive Director, or any of our Board Members. It takes a village!
